From the very beginning, horses and dogs were at the centre of my world. My mum bought my first pony, Sally, when I was 11, and I’ve never been without a horse since. After leaving school, I pursued my BHS and ABRS qualifications and worked across a variety of yards, gaining hands‑on experience in roles that shaped both my horsemanship and my understanding of the industry.
My saddlery journey began in 1989 at Pointings of Bath, followed by formal training at The Saddlery Training Centre. Those early years cemented my love for craftsmanship, precision, and the quiet satisfaction of creating something that truly fits — horse, rider, and purpose.
In 2000, I founded Jo Baker Saddlery, and more than 25 years later, I’m incredibly proud to still be doing what I love every single day. I consider myself very fortunate: I absolutely adore my work and genuinely couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
